About Us

Angela & Mini-CooperI started this business on a dream over a decade ago.  I have been transporting pets since 1998.  My first move was from Tennessee to California.  A Cairn Terrier to a dear friend, Stephanie.  You can see her family picture below with her now 12 yr old Criseyde.  Her puppy was born 4 days after my youngest son, Ronan.

Shortly after that, I made my my first international shipment.  It was Niki, the Akita and Penny the Great Dane from Atlanta, Georgia to Haiti.  Niki was a registered security dog in Haiti as you can see from his badge in the picture below.

This is how my pet transportation business started.  I have worked in veterinary hospitals and emergency clinics throughout the years and always had a passion for animals. In the earlier years of working with pets I could not imagine my love of animals turning into an international business.

Our office in Costa Rica opened in early 2000 where we had our main office until 2007 when we moved our headquarters to Lexington, Kentucky. We still have a full time staff in Costa Rica to handle our moves in and out of Central America while our Lexington Kentucky office has taken over the moves to and from other parts of the world.

In 2005 World Pet Travel became a member of IPATA and part of a network of international pet transporters. There are members from every corner of the globe working together to facilitate the relocation of pets to most any location around the world.

And THESE are the a couple of the reasons that I am still doing this.  I LOVE what I do!!! I LOVE the people, I LOVE the pets!!!

Over the years I have learned so much about pet travel and I learn more as each day passes.  We are very fortunate to have a network of pet shippers to work with and a wonderful source of friends and associates to help us out when in need.

We have made so many new friends and have some not so new friends posted throughout this website along with their pets that we have helped move from one place to another.  Read about us, read about them.  We would love to post your story here next.
